Our Coaches

All of our coaches are current or previous swim professionals on the competitive arena.
Our team hold Internationally Recognized Swimming Qualifications, valid First Aid and Lifeguard certificates.

All coaches have a minimum 3 years teaching or coaching experience, along with a passion for swimming.

Vladimir Anusic

Serbia

Degree: Faculty of Physical Education

Experience: 18 Years

- We are proud to have Vladimir leading our coaching team in Dubai since early 2014. Vladimir Anusic, born in Serbia, graduated from the Faculty of Physical Education in Novi Sad and became a professor and swimming coach. In 2007, Vladimir achieved his Masters of Science (Management) from Novi Sad University.

- His first successes in the sport of swimming has gained through the success of his swimmer, Tijana Vukanović (1992), who already in 2001 achieved her first national record in the 200m Freestyle at the pioneering national championship of Serbia and Montenegro, held in Krusevac. The following 4 years of coaching, Vladimir's swimmers achieved a total of 26 records in SCG Category of young pioneers, pioneers and cadets.

- From 2001, coach Vladimir Anušić, coached 20 more swimmers who won National Championships and individual National titles, including: Jovanka Marjanovic, Stepanov Sara, Milica Marjanovic, Aljosa Arlov, Nemanja Milanovic, Jovan Ponjevic, Goran Mlinar, Nikola Savic, Ognjen Stojanovic, Simin Katica, Tesic Isidora, Pozarev Andjela, Milica Marjanovic, Bogdanovski Milica, Devaja Tijana, Lagumdzija Mirela, Srecko Stefanovic, Milorad Jaksic, Bratic Marko and Senicar Mladen.

- Since 2014, he joined Waves Swim & Sports Academy in the capacity of Senior Coach and shortly after as Head Coach. His success continues in Dubai with our Mini-Squad and Junior Squad members continuously achieving excellent results in their age groups at UAE swim galas.

Jelena Dedajic

Montenegro

Degree: Diploma in Sports Management

Experience: 5 Years

- Jelena Dedajic, born and raised in Montenegro, came to Dubai in 2011 and joined our team at Waves Swim & Sports Academy in 2013 as a Swim Instructor. Over the past 3 years, she has worked with many younger age children and is now one of our Senior Coaches, having taken on coaching of our youngest swim squad, 'Stingrays' swimmers aged 8-10 years old.

- With her amazing ability to relate to children, her love of swimming shines through! Jelena is always a friendly and encouraging coach who is able to offer support as well as motivate her swimmers to achieve excellent results.

- She started her swimming career in Montenegro at a young age. She quickly moved from swimming pool to the open waters of Adriatic Sea and started competing in many Open Water competitions at National level in Montenegro (2008, 2009 & 2010) and International Grand Prix in Serbia (2010), Macedonia (2010) & Croatia (2008, 2009), UAE (2015). She has achieved great results in the 5km, 10km, 20km & 30km competitions and is a constant face at Dubai's Mina Mile competitions, winning in her age group almost every time.

Natasa Simic

Serbian

Qualifications: ASCTA Level 1 & 2

Experience: 3 Years

- Natasa has joined our team in 2016, joining us after her retirement as a professional water polo player in the Water Polo team in Serbia for Red Star Club. Her career started as a swimmer in earlier years and later moving into water polo where she has gained great success, including participating in more than 10 International Water Polo competitions between 2010 - 2015 including: Women's European Junior Water Polo Championships in Ukraine (2010), Spain (2011) & France (2014), South Korea (2015) as well as participating in many tournaments in her home country, Serbia.

- Her team won International tournaments in Germany (2011), Regional League (2012), Serbian League (2012), Women's European Under 19 Championships in Rome when she was the Captain of her team.

- In 2014, Natasa was awarded the Best Junior Player in Serbia.

- Natasa is a great addition to our team and is always a happy and friendly coach and her swimmers can't wait to attend their next class with her. She teaches Baby Swim & a range of Learn to Swim levels.

Ivana Talijanov

Serbian

Qualifications: ASCTA Level 1 & 2

Experience: 3 Years

- Ivana has joined our team of experts in 2016 in the role of Swim Instructor. She is fantastic with our Learn to Swim levels as well as our Stroke Development swimmers.

- Ivana started her career in swimming in Serbia and competed between 2004 to 2008 in Regional Championships, achieving great results in Breastroke: 50m (2nd place), 100m (3rd place) & 200m (3rd place) and at National Championships in 400m Medley (2nd place at Serbian Long Course Championships) & 200m Breastroke (3rd place at Serbian Open Long Course) and also 3rd place in 100m Breastroke at BVSC Cup International Swim Meet in Hungary in 2006.

- In 2008, Ivana moving into the sport of Women's Water Polo. She was a member of 2 clubs between 2008 to 2011, attending many competitions and with her team achieving 3rd place in National Water Polo League & 3rd place International Cup in Serbia.

- From 2009 - 2014, Ivana has taught both swimming and water polo to juniors in her club in Serbia, in addition to her competing and training and completing her studies.
