PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Waves Swim & Sports Academy squad structure is designed to be progressive for swimmers to develop through various different pathways in line with our Long Term Athlete Development Plan. Squad Criteria is in place to ensure that squad selections are not only fair on other swimmers but correct for individual swimmers physiological development. Various different locations are available for convenience across the younger squads, however convenience should not compromise a swimmer reaching their long term potential and achieving their dream.
WHEN CAN YOU START?
We are open for bookings now! You can start from anytime, providing there is still availability in our schedule. As our lessons are quickly fully booked, early booking is recommended.
Our Squads program runs between September to February, March to July. We also offer summer Squads Programs every July and August.
HOW DO YOU BECOME A MEMBER?
- Book your child’s FREE assessment by completing the Register Now form on this page.
- One of our staff will contact you within 24 hours to advise the next sign-up available.
- Arrive to the sign-up session on time. We will ask a parent to complete a Registration Form and sign Terms of Registration. We require a copy of valid passport or Emirates ID for all swimmers.
- If you wish to proceed with the booking of a semester term, you will be asked to pay a non-refundable deposit of 500 AED, with the balance outstanding due when your child comes for their first lesson.
- Once a successful booking & deposit has been made, you will receive a confirmation email from our administration team with all details needed for the first lesson to commence.

MINI SQUAD
The aim of the Mini Squad is to introduce young swimmers to competitive swimming whilst promoting good sportsmanship, encouraging competition, and developing stroke technique skills in a fun team environment. 3x training sessions per week are required with a competitive calendar followed throughout the year with mandatory attendance. Minimum two external competitions and two Waves Swim Galas throughout the year. The natural progression from this squad will be the Junior Squad.
JUNIOR SQUAD
SECOND SQUAD
The aim of the Second Squad is to enhance the basic training skills learned in previous levels and to ensure that each swimmer learns correct techniques in all strokes, starts, and turns. Focus is on physical fitness and stamina, making it a more challenging but fun team environment. Competition attendance is not required at this level, however, we encourage swimmers to enter competitions if they so desire. One to two weekly trainings are required.
SENIOR SQUAD
The aim of the Senior Squad is to educate swimmers about correct training pathways and develop advanced drills, stoke techniques, start and turns. The training environment is challenging but fun, however, the emphasis on competitive rules and officials are emphasized with swimmers aiming to compete and achieve at local and regional levels. Training consists of dryland and water to help strengthen and prevent injuries. All swimmers at this level must be serious about competitive attendance and be results-oriented. Five training sessions per week is required as well as external competitions, both at local and regional meets.
